I wanted to clarify the way the standings work due to some confusion. The standings will determine which teams play in the post season tournament as only the top eight teams from the 4th, 5th and 6th grade will play. Teams can earn or lose up to 12 points per game, any additional point differential will be ignored as far as standings are concerned. Overtime games will only count for plus or minus one point. The tournament games will be hosted in Hays this year on October 22nd, 29th and 30th with games played at Lewis Field (FHSU), Hays High and Felten Middle School. There will be some night games, especially at the 6th grade level, so please be prepared. The brackets will be set with 1 through 8 in a standard bracket format. The top finishers in our tournament will receive automatic bids to the regional tournament in Lawrence the first weekend of November if they are interested in going. At the 7th grade the top teams at the end of the regular season will get a bid to the Regional tournament in Lawrence. One thing to note post season play is not mandatory but any team that does not want to play needs to notify me well in advance so I can make other arrangements. We will also once again host a second tournament in Great Bend for the next four teams in the 4th and 6th Grade that do not qualify for the Hays tournament.
Thanks,
Mark Loughry
