wanted to clarify the way the standings work due to some confusion. The standings will determine which teams play in the post season tournament as only the top eight teams from the 4th, 5th and 6th grade will play. The tournament games will be hosted in Hays this year on October 21st, 22nd and 29th with the 5th and 6th grade playing all games at Lewis Field (FHSU) and the first round of the 4th grade being hosted at Felten Middle School with the balance to be played at Lewis field. There will be some night games, especially at the 6th grade level, so please be prepared. Only the top 4 seeds are guaranteed placement on the bracket with the remaining spots being filled by trying to match up teams that have not already played. The purpose is to create first round match ups between towns that normally don't get to play each other. This does make it possible for a 5th seed team to play a 1 seed but when possible this will be avoided. The top finishers in our tournament will receive automatic bids to the regional tournament in Lawrence the first weekend of November if they are interested in going. At the 7th grade the top teams at the end of the regular season will get a bid to the Regional tournament in Lawrence. Information on the Lawrence Tournament can be found at www.nysso.net. Teams that qualify and want to go to Lawrence are responsible for making their own arrangements so I suggest you contact them early.
